"Hello, Everyone! I am a current high school AP United States History teacher with 19 years of teaching experience. I have a B.A. in History and English, along with state certification to teach both subjects to grades 6-12. I also have a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. I began my teaching career as a 9th and 10th grade English teacher, so I have a strong background in writing, which is helpful when teaching AP U.S. History. I have been teaching AP US History to 10th and 11th grade students for over 10 years. In addition, I attend annual professional development seminars run by the College Board, so I am knowledgable on the expectations for students to excel on the AP US History test.

My goal as a tutor is to first meet with students to figure out which areas of AP US History students need assistance with. I feel very strongly that in order to excel in AP US History, students need to have a very good understanding of the content. I have several strategies that will help students organize and remember the massive amount of content in AP US History. There is also specific "skill" work that students will need to understand and practice in order to prepare for the written portion (essays and short answer responses) of the AP US History test. I will also share several strategies and resources to help students organize their essays, as well as source the documents for the DBQ essay.

I don't believe there is a "one size fits all" method to teaching and/or tutoring. Each student that I tutor will have a specific and personalized plan based on the student's goals.
