*15 years of experience teaching AP US History at a Massachusetts high school, and a total of 23 years teaching honors and college prep level courses in World History, US History, Psychology and Economics.

*As a consultant for the College Board, I instruct new and experienced AP US History teachers and have amassed vast resources, strategies and programs to share with students.

What defines me as a classroom teacher was my love of interacting with my students and the care provided in working individually to prepare them for the exam. My one-on-one afterschool sessions and evening group work were highly attended and resulted in very successful exams scores with a consistent 85% passing rate over the years. Students returning from college regularly comment that my classroom was where they learned to write for the college level!

During my one-to-one session, I coach students on all portions of the exam with particular attention to close reading skills and written responses. Over my years of serving as a "reader" for the AP US History exam, I have read and graded thousands of DBQ, LEQ and Short Answer Question (SAQ) responses applying the current Writing Rubrics. Using the resources at my disposal for practice in tutoring sessions, I ensure that students master the various elements of good essay writing included thesis development, analyzing primary and secondary source evidence and incorporating argumentation to support their analysis.
