"As a teacher I encourage students to build a solid foundation of understanding of perceptual rendering in drawing and painting as a basis to explorations of individual compositions and projects. With middle and high school students my emphasis is the development of a solid portfolio that can showcase their capabilities for possible entry into university programs. I have successfully tutored students through their college applications to many programs of their choice.
I am a practicing artist in New York City and have long experience teaching art at all levels of education. My experience includes teaching children in middle school and high school through different outreach programs with museums and universities in the city to college level teaching in campuses throughout the tri-state area, including NYU, Jersey City University, and William Paterson University among others. I hold an MFA and study art at the Studio School in NYC.
Art history is also part of my repertoire. I have taught college art history classes from surveys and introductory classes to more specialized classes such as combination classes of art history with the humanities and thesis classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The first thing that we will do as you get in contact with me is to see a sample of your artwork (drawings, paintings, collages etc.) so that I can assess your level of skill and from there articulate a plan to develop your skills. Please fell free to contact me for more information." less...
