"Hey there! I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my B.S. in Biology last May, and am currently taking a gap year before going to medical school this fall. When I'm not studying, I'm usually entertaining my rescue cat, Zeus, running, reading, or playing the Sims. While I dream of being a physician in the future, I have a real passion for natural sciences, especially biology, genetics, cell biology, cancer biology, and anatomy and physiology. Both my parents are educators, and so I grew up in a household where teaching, sharing, and curiosity were encouraged and nurtured.
I have five years of tutoring experienced ranging from middle school basic sciences to upper level biology courses in college. I have spent time working with a variety of demographics, from teaching full-length remedial classes with at-risk high schoolers, to one-on-one sessions with college athletes. I have also spent a significant amount of my tutoring career helping teach student study, note-taking, and test-taking methods to take advantage of their time in and out of class. I truly love what I do--it is my passion to help take students from fearing a subject to loving it! I live for the "AHA!" moment when my student finally "gets" it. I understand that every person I tutor it unique, and so I always tailor my style to the student and frequently check in to see what we could be doing better. My goal is not just to teach you, but to increase your confidence and help you love the subject we work on together.
I graduated in the top 10% of my class with a Bachelor's in Biology. In college, I was a member of the Alpha Chi Honors Society (the highest academic award offered by my institution), as well as Vice President of Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-health Honors Society. Additionally, I am attending medical school (pursuing a M.D./M.P.H.) in the fall, which on its own speaks to my academic achievement.
I really want to help out in any way that I can, so feel free to reach out to me with any and all questions!" less...
