"I’m Blace! I am offering tutoring on a variety of topics including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics, Data Science and Econometrics for students of any age and circumstance. I can assist with general understanding or specific projects, and I will help you achieve your goals as efficiently as possible.
I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics from The College of William & Mary. I went on to earn a master’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Operations Research. During graduate school I worked as a teaching assistant for the math department. I tutored over 100 undergraduate calculus students per semester, both in larger lecture hall settings during weekly labs, and one-on-one and in small groups during homework help sessions several times a week. I proctored and graded weekly quizzes and assignments, and I took time to explain answers with students who struggled.
After graduate school I was accepted as a fellow at The Data Incubator where I launched my career in data science. I have worked on a variety of projects including AI for call centers, online retail optimization, and TV advertising models. I often acted as a tutor in these corporate settings as well, explaining concepts to engineers and analysts as new techniques were being implemented and answering questions as they arose. Some of these trainings were large and organized, others were small and informal.
I believe in five principles for learning, which are to 1) start at the beginning 2) omit nothing 3) not practice mistakes 4) break down difficulties and 5) not let the unknown interfere with what you know. So, whether you are a high school student encountering these subjects for the first time, a college student laying groundwork for your career, or an experienced professional who just needs to brush up on some topics, I am here to help you apply these principles and achieve lasting understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, or to schedule an introduction!" less...
