"Hello, my name is Milan! I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. Through my schooling, I realized my love for learning and teaching. I have always been a teacher in some sense, whether it was 1-1 tutoring in school or teaching classrooms. I am a firm believer that everyone learns from different teaching styles, and that teaching styles need to be personalized based to the student. In high school, my love for learning led to my becoming a National Merit Finalist as well as the school valedictorian.
Over the years, I have tutored students in a variety of subjects but primarily in math and science. My approach emphasizes student-centered learning and interactive problem-solving. I believe that the abstract concepts in math and science can be better learned through real life application.
Having been in industry for 5 years, I see the value in STEM education and the practical application of math and science in industry to solve problems. With this knowledge, I hope to help students understand tough concepts through use of real life applications.
I have experience teaching students of different ages from middle school to high school. I have worked in diverse settings, including 1-1 tutoring sessions, classrooms, and volunteer programs. I have spent 6 years across middle and high school tutoring students 1-1 after school. I have also taught Sunday School for middle schoolers which helped me develop strong classroom management skills. My volunteer experiences include tutoring in community centers after school for elementary school kids (promote STEM through various activities) or mentoring programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters further enriching my ability to adapt my teaching style to the unique needs of each student.
I am open to personalizing teaching style based on student's learning style. I am easy to get hold of and pretty responsive with answers! Feel free to contact with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
