"I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I have experiences with college admission as I have been through it myself. I have helped many student with lower GPA to turn things around and admitted to schools of their dream. GPA is not everything. My experience comes from working for some of the country's most selective schools as well as for the UC system. I've worked at USC, the UC System, as well as Claremont McKenna College -- each institution had an acceptance rate under 20%. I knows exactly what helps to make a student stand out in the process, as well as what mistakes students tend to make when they apply to college. I have worked many international students as well. I know how to help those with lower GPA to shrine.
I am there every step of the way from planning summer programs to crafting thoughtful admissions essays. With so much information out there, it really helps to have someone on your side to find that perfect school.
Below is a sample of what I can do to help my students.
Student Analysis: Personality and Aptitude Assessment, Career Values and Major Exploration, educational planning, mock interview(s), activity list, campus visits, recommendations, extracurricular review / summer activity resources, research tools.
College Identification Phase: Developing a comprehensive list of "good fit" colleges that meet the student's needs socially, financially, and academically.
Application Work: There are at least four different applications that many of my students fill out -- Common App, UC, Cal State Apply, Coalition App. Many of my students apply early action or early decision, and Regular Decision considerations. I provide the tools so my students don't make any mistakes while filling out their applications.
There are fourteen different criteria that college admissions officers look at when assessing students. Students are so focused just on grades and test scores that they often fail to take into account the variety of other ways that they can talk about themselves.
