"As an experienced tutor and teaching assistant with a robust background in biomedical engineering and the sciences, I am passionate about helping students build confidence and mastery in STEM subjects. My academic journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of math, biology, chemistry, and physics, and I enjoy sharing that knowledge to inspire and empower students.
During my time as a teaching assistant for Anatomy and Physiology, I loved breaking down complex systems into relatable concepts, helping students appreciate the intricate connections between structure and function in the human body. As a TA for Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biology, I guided students through challenging topics, such as reaction mechanisms, metabolic pathways, and cellular processes, by emphasizing critical thinking and the "big picture" behind each concept. These experiences honed my ability to adapt explanations and create interactive learning activities that engage diverse learners.
Beyond the classroom, I have tutored students privately in SAT, ACT, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Genetics, and Microbiology at both the high school and undergraduate levels. Each tutoring session is tailored to meet the unique goals of my students, whether it's acing a standardized test or mastering a difficult course. For instance, I have helped students increase their SAT and ACT science and math scores by teaching test-taking strategies alongside subject content, resulting in measurable improvements.
My tutoring philosophy revolves around fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. I encourage my students to ask questions freely and approach challenges as opportunities to grow. By customizing each lesson plan, I address their individual strengths while targeting areas for improvement. Whether it's dissecting a biological system or solving a tricky calculus problem, I aim to make learning approachable, engaging, and meaningful." less...
