"I fell in love with chemistry in high school. I was taking AP chemistry and my favorite show was C.S.I. I decided at that time I wanted to study forensic chemistry. I attended Ohio University, and during that time I tutored students in general and organic chemistry. Although I graduated with a degree in forensic chemistry, I realized my passion was organic chemistry. I attended graduate school at Ohio University and taught lectures and labs in general and organic chemistry. After obtaining my PhD, I moved to Fort Wayne and to become a professor. I enjoy teaching, but there is a part of me that missed the lab work. I now have a position in industry, but found that tutoring is a chance to keep in touch with my desire to teach as well. My goal is to help students better understand chemistry and find how relatable it is to their life.

My sessions are designed to adapt to a students learning style. Having taught courses before I have a lot of practice problems and worksheets to use during lessons. Also, I like to break problems down into the fundamentals. In order for students to understand complex problems they need to understand the basics. To often students try to memorize material from each chapter. I try to break that habit and demonstrate how information from the first few chapters can be used to answer all problems in later chapters by using critical thinking methods as opposed to memorization.
