"I'm Rebecca, a neural science major and public health minor at NYU CAS in the class of 2025; I am also a member of Presidential Honors Scholars, an honor granted to the top 10% of each incoming class. At NYU, I have the privilege of teaching elementary school students in underfunded NYC school districts about sustainability and environmental science through a nonprofit called Sprout Up. I'm also a wilderness EMT and can provide tutoring to students enrolled in an EMT-B course.
Six years ago, I founded a free academic tutoring program for teammates on my local competitive swim team, where I collaborated with three other tutors I recruited to provide 15+ students ages 6-14 with support in academic subjects, study skills/organization, and public speaking. This program has continued to exist after I graduated high school, with new senior swimmer leaders maintaining our approach of bolstering the success of student-athletes. I have also tutored high school students in physics, precalculus/calculus I, chemistry, and biology, and I have extensive experience working with elementary and middle school aged children through work as a tutor, swim instructor, mentor, hiking trip leader, and teacher.
My philosophy as a tutor is to maintain an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating learning experience while also ensuring my tutees can remain organized through progress/assignment tracking. I teach topics in creative ways to make the content as engaging and memorable as possible. I am receptive to feedback from parents and students and will always respond quickly; please feel free to reach out to schedule an appointment or ask questions!" less...
