"Hi, my name is Deanna! I grew up in Houston and recently graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience. I was an academic mentor for the past 3 years, primarily working with college freshman in general chemistry. Other subjects that I have tutored include college physics and the MCAT. I regularly worked in small group contexts (5-15 students) and one-on-one sessions.
Throughout my time as an academic mentor, I focused on building content knowledge as well as implementing problem-solving and studying strategies. While I enjoyed the academic side of tutoring, what I also found meaningful was getting to know my students over the course of multiple semesters. Making meaningful connections allowed me to understand the unique, individualized ways we learn. As a tutor, I will always view who I teach not just as students, but as people.
I am very communicative and open to feedback. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to meeting you!" less...
