"Hello! My name is Kruti and I am a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I majored in Biology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry, on the pre-med track as an honors student, and graduated with highest distinction. As an introvert in college, I struggled at times with having my voice heard in large classes and lectures, which is why I found tutoring so helpful! I enjoyed the more personalized aspect and once I recognized this, I knew I wanted to help other students in the same position as me. Since my sophomore year of college, I have been a peer tutor for other undergraduates in the subjects I have taken. I have taught one-on-one sessions both in-person and online via Zoom as well as small group sessions of 2-3 students. I mainly tutored in Organic Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, and Psychology.
Tutoring was one of my favorite parts of college and I loved working with students from different backgrounds with diverse interests! It not only allowed me to stay updated on the content I learned but was also fulfilling as I helped students gain confidence in their abilities and understanding of certain subjects and improve their performance. Being able to share my love for subjects I enjoyed, with other students, is what drew me to tutoring!
My tutoring philosophy is that every student is completely capable of learning and any challenges are only opportunities for growth. I mainly focus on asking metacognitive questions to guide students rather than giving them the answers immediately. I believe this allows them to work through problems and concepts on their own first before I jump in to teach the material. I also ensure that I provide some time for students to practice the concepts we discuss as an understanding check. Every student is unique and learns differently, so I strive to be patient with and kind to every student I work with and help make a positive change in any way possible. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
