"With four years' experience as a full-time high school humanities teacher, I know how to help students improve as writers and score higher grades. I guide students through each step of the writing process and help them to understand each part of an essay, from introduction to conclusion. In proofreading, I always look to refine both the specific paper and my students' skills as writers. I want my students to learn to write excellently on their own, without my help.
My math tutoring follows the same plan. While helping with particular problems, I strive to teach habits and ways of thinking that will enable my students to succeed going forward. These are the skills that enabled me to score 5s on the AP Calculus AB and BC exams as a junior in high school and to progress to Multivariable Calculus as a senior.
What are my other credentials? I have degrees in English, philosophy, and commerce from universities in the nation's top-75 most selective. My scores on the SAT, GMAT, and GRE are in the 99th percentile. As a teacher, I have developed from scratch and taught courses on literature, history, philosophy, and political science. Last year, my colleagues named me our high school's "Teacher of the Year."
But my credentials are only part of why I make a good tutor—and they're not the more important part. More importantly, I am passionate about helping and caring for my students.
