"Hello, I'm Melissa! I have been tutoring and teaching in elementary school for 24 years now and it's truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I've helped so many students achieve their academic goals year after year and i know that all students are more than capable of doing the same with the right help. I have a passion for teaching reading and language arts. I love those moments when students understand and they are so excited and proud of themselves!

I have two Master's degrees in Education- one with a focus on reading and writing and the second in Library Media Science. I taught math and reading for seven years before transferring from a classroom teacher to a library media specialist where I focus on reading skills. I have been doing this specifically for the last 17 years. I teach PreK-5th grade, we cover everything from writing to grammar to reading skills to computer safety.

I also have small tutoring groups throughout the day. These groups range from non-readers to struggling readers who are behind several grade levels. I work with them to discover their strengths and weaknesses, to identify their needs and identify a good starting point. I constantly remind students that we can all improve, but at different rates.
