I have a Masters from UNC-Pembroke and a History degree from Appalachian State University. My approach to history education is simple - we must understand both the events and the prevailing attitudes of the past in order to learn all that history has to teach us. The United States is a great nation and a thorough understanding of its history helps us to appreciate that and grow.
When it comes to history, I am truly a lifelong learner and seek to share that passion. Technology has connected us to the past in a way that early historians were not. I believe in taking advantage of our improved access to primary sources in order to secure a better understanding and appreciation of our collective past.
In a very similar fashion, technology has uncovered all corners of the globe. As students we have unbelievable access to other cultures. Understanding the lives and history of others is paramount in appreciating what we have as Americans.
