"Hello, I am Claudia M, an experienced educator, Reading Interventionist, and tutor. I am looking forward to providing academic support and encouragement to learners to help them achieve their goals. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education/Psychology from Rhode Island College and a Master's degree in Literacy from Providence College.
I began my career in 1991 as a substitute teacher in a suburban public school system. Later, I joined an urban public school system as a grade 3 teacher for 2 years prior to becoming a grade 1 teacher for 5 years, and concluding my tenure there as a gr 4 teacher for 17 years.
In 2012, I became a part-time tutor working with students of varying ages ranging from 6 yrs-18 yrs. During this time period, I supported student development in reading, phonemic awareness and phonics, comprehension, writing, spelling, vocabulary, foundational math skills, study skills, homework completion, and test preparation, and organization for best effort.
In addition, I provide students with insightful ways to become more self-aware of how they view themselves as learners and provide tips to enhance their executive functioning skills.
Throughout my career, I have worked successfully with students facing various challenges whether it be from ADHD, Dyslexia, and/or executive functioning issues. Through tailored lessons based on assessed student needs and learning styles, I provide opportunities that are hands on, interactive, and engaging. It would be my pleasure to work with your child and I thank you for your consideration. I look forward to meeting your child where they are and seeing them soar!" less...
