I have been an educator for the past 21 years, teaching at the fourth grade level in the Toms River Regional School District. Throughout my time as a teacher I have Tutored and worked as a part of the districts EXCEL program for 14 years. The EXCEL program is designed to offer struggling students additional help through the school they attend, in various subjects ranging from reading and writing to math and science.
As a tutor my philosophy has always been designed around the concept of differentiation; developing individual strategies and goals for each individual student. I am very hands on as a tutor developing various lessons and activities that not only educate the student, but draw their attention and truly engage them in the subject matter. I find that tutoring to be very fulfilling as it allows for me to work one on one with the children and help them to develop into more successful students, helping them to prepare for their futures as a part of society.
