"Hi! My name is Lindsey, and I just graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Special Education. I am a first year 4th grade Special Education teacher. Before Wyzant, I tutored 5th and 6th graders for 1.5 years. Since starting online, I have worked with students for over 880 hours ranging from 2nd-10th grade. I love tutoring because I am able to build a relationship with students and encourage successful learning!

I have always enjoyed math and am able to pick it up quickly. I am experienced in teaching elementary, pre-algebra, and primary geometry concepts. I can break down word problems so they are easy to understand and find different approaches that are easiest for the students. I also make practice problems that are similar to problems they will encounter in homework or tests.

In language arts, I can help students in various parts of reading and writing. I have experience in teaching decoding and the importance of phonics, as well as improving reading fluency and comprehension. I also teach applying these skills in other subjects to improve studying and recall. With writing, I provide guidelines on how to form answers using graphic organizers and sentence starters to form sentences and paragraphs.
