I have the experience of teaching students for over 22 years and tutoring for over 4 years. I learned many different strategies to help my students understand difficult math concepts. I begin with a problem of the day, followed by direct instruction, practice together, and independent practice. Using models, charts, or any materials that help my students understand. I relate the concept to real-world problems. I'm patient and believe all students can succeed in math.
In my 22 years of teaching, several years were teaching 7th-grade science. I enjoyed teaching by using demonstrations, labs, simulations, such as Gizmo, and a variety of hands-on activities. These strategies helped my students to understand and apply what they learned.
I taught 7th grade Language Arts for 2 years. By understanding the interests of my students, I could plan lessons based on their interests. Also, as a tutor for a local business, I worked with students grades 1 through 7 in reading, FSA practice, and Vocabulary.
