"Hello! My name is Jenny and I am an experienced K-8 math teacher who is excited to work with your student. I have been a teacher for 20+ years and have always focused my teaching around Mathematics and instructional practices. As a student, I was lucky enough to have math teachers that made math enjoyable and for the past 23 years I have worked to do the same for my students. Nothing breaks my heart more than hearing a student say they hate math. As a career educator, I know they just haven't found the right type of teacher. I hope to be that for your student.

I have a BA in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in Education.

Throughout my career, I have not only taught at the classroom level but have also tutored small groups of students for the district I am currently employed with. I have worked with students that speak English as a second language and students with varied backgrounds. I have also been fortunate enough to be a Instructional Coach for Mathematics. In this position, I was able to work with teachers to improve their instructional practices. Currently, I am employed as a Curriculum and Professional Development Leader for our district. This position takes me away from the students I have enjoyed working with for years.

Along with the work I have done at the district level, I have also been contracted for the past 5 years to write and evaluate math questions for a "high stakes" standardized testing company focused around Common Core standards. I have also work for the Department of Education for the state of Iowa in curriculum development in the area of Mathematics.
