"I'm Lisa E. and my students call me "Ms. E!" I've taught and supported elementary math (grades K - 5) throughout my career, both in New York City and the Chicagoland area. My most recent role (before semi-retiring) was as an elementary math coach/math interventionist. I've created STEM afterschool programs and organized family math nights. I currently work as a substitute teacher in River Forest School District 90.

I'm very familiar with the math standards and have a keen understanding of what students should know and be able to do by the end of each school year. What would you like me to focus on? It may be specific to the unit of study that your child is currently working on (i.e., adding and subtracting; area and multiplication; fractions etc.). Other possibilities include fluency and flexibility with numbers, critical thinking and problem solving.

I believe that math can be made to be engaging and fun! I particularly enjoy working with students one-on-one and in small groups as they work to make sense of, and find enjoyment in, math. On my part, this requires the ability to adjust instruction in "real time," based on a child's understanding/misunderstanding. I have an enthusiasm and love for learning which hasn't waivered, and my goal is to nurture an excitement for math in the students that I support as they find success with numbers.
