I got my master's in Elementary Education from Columbia University (Teacher's College) in 2010. I have taught elementary school for 11 years, five in New York City public schools and six in CCSD in Palatine Illinois. I have taught grades two through six. In 2022, after my third child was born, I decided to take a year for family leave and am looking to tutor in my spare time.
I have taught students from age 6-11 and am comfortable with all Common Core and curricular materials.

My approach to elementary age tutoring is to first learn how the child's teacher is teaching the material and then try and continue with that focus by supplementing additional ways and ideas. I have found over my years of teaching that it's good to try different methods but that, if you have too many different strategies, it can be confusing for the student." less...
