"Hello! My name is Madison, and I am a fourth-year student at UCLA, majoring in Political Science and Music. I conducted research about the intersection of music and political science at the University of Cambridge and currently contribute to UCLA's Undergraduate Music Journal. Maintaining a GPA of 3.9 or above, I have consistently earned a place on the Dean's Honor List for the past three years. While in high school, I was awarded the AP Scholar with Honor distinction from the College Board and was a member of the National Honors Society. While being a member of the National Honors Society, I engaged in a range of volunteer tutoring experiences across different age groups and subjects. Specifically, I have a history of tutoring students at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels, focusing on subjects such as math, reading, history, and music theory. In total, I have accumulated over four years of tutoring experience.
In tutoring, I aim to create a supportive and empowering environment for students, fostering a comfortable space for questions and facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the material. I customize teaching methods to individual needs, ensuring accessibility. For younger students, I integrate interactive "games" to make learning enjoyable and reinforce concepts. Following these activities, I often find that the main concepts become ingrained, enabling me to formulate a specialized lesson plan that further solidifies their understanding. When working with older students, I identify objectives upfront, tailoring lesson plans to address specific challenges. Throughout the tutoring process, I consistently monitor their progress and am proactive in updating the lesson plan or objectives to ensure ongoing achievement and success. However, I am always open to adapting my lesson plans and teaching style to best accommodate any student. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!" less...
