Here are the subjects I am qualified to tutor…Elementary Math, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Handwriting, Spelling, Phonics and Vocabulary. In addition to this, I am also qualified in drawing. I love to paint and mentor others who have a love and passion for exploring their Artist side.

Once upon a time, as a young student myself, I struggled with school. I worked hard, studied hard, and did my best to pay attention but little helped when it came to processing, comprehending and retaining that knowledge. Diagnosed as an adult with ADHD, I look back as a teacher and I now understand why I struggled. My past struggles along with my understanding of ADHD have aided my abilities in helping students attain their goals and begin the journey of fulfilling their potential. I have 18+ years of experience teaching students from Pre-K -6th grade. I have a BA in education from Lock Haven University and a certification from PA for Pre-K, and K-6th grades.

During my years of teaching 4-6th grade, I used an inquiry-based learning method. I encourage my students to ask questions, investigate or research and explore new ideas. This style and approach proved to develop and strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills. When approaching learning this way, I find that children are excited, motivated and encouraged. Enthusiasm, high-energy and humor also play a part in my instruction…because learning can be fun too.

For the more personal side of me...I am a mom, a sister, a teacher, an artist and I have a SUPERPOWER. Oh yes I do…my ADHD. Often, I have to train and re-train my brain how to function with this superpower but I have learned that it has contributed towards many of my natural talents.
