I can also teach you reading, grammar, and studying/note-taking skills. I can help you improve your writing skills for classes, or help clarify APA or MLA rules. Ultimately, I can help you feel more confident in your English skills, whether it's for language development or for your classes.

I have been teaching English as a second language for over 10 years in the states and in other countries. I taught in China for two years and then in Colombia for four years. I approach teaching from a learner centered approach, so I adapt all lessons to what the learner needs. This means that I will collaborate with you to make the best possible plans for you to achieve your goals. In China I taught general academic English, and an advanced academic writing course. In Colombia, I taught business English focusing on cross cultural communication, and written and oral communication in business. In the U.S., I taught general English skills, academic English, and academic writing for native and non-native English speakers.

I have a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics: Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education as well as a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have taught ages 15- 60's in both university and community settings, and I have worked one on one with students as a tutor. I love helping people succeed in their language goals. Because of my experience living abroad, I fully understand what it means to live, learn and speak another language that is not your own every day. This experience helps me understand the unique challenges that come with learning another language.
