"With a Bachelor's degree in English, a Master's in Instructional Technology, and graduate coursework in Educational Leadership, I bring a diverse and well-rounded background to my teaching and tutoring approach. Over the past eight years, I have had the privilege of teaching English to students in grades 6 through 12, covering a wide range of reading and writing skills. Whether in large classrooms of over 30 students or in more intimate small groups and one-on-one tutoring sessions, I’ve been able to adapt my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of every student I work with.
My teaching philosophy is built around a holistic approach, focusing not only on academic success but also on nurturing the physical, emotional, and social growth of my students. I believe that learning is most effective when it takes into account the whole child, and that academic success is deeply intertwined with a student's sense of well-being. This means I work to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel motivated, valued, and confident in their abilities. By building strong, trusting relationships with my students, I can better understand their individual challenges and strengths, allowing me to tailor lessons to meet their specific needs.
In tutoring, I prioritize personalized learning, understanding that every student has a unique learning style and pace. Whether I’m helping a student refine their reading comprehension, improve their writing skills, or prepare for standardized tests, I focus on building their motivation and confidence along the way. These qualities are critical for student success, and I strive to help students not only achieve their academic goals but also develop a lifelong love for learning. My approach is student-centered, ensuring that each session is meaningful and empowering, creating lasting improvements in both their academic performance and overall self-esteem." less...
