"Hi, I'm MK! I studied English, Creative Writing, and Social Media Strategies for Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After four years of working in content marketing, I am all set to start law school this upcoming semester. Tutoring on the side has been a constant for me over the last 10 years. As a high school student, I helped elementary school students with ESOL, English, Reading, and Writing. Once I entered college, I helped high school and college students with a variety of classes related to English, Reading, Literature, Writing, and ACT prep. As a volunteer Refugee Youth Mentor for Catholic Charities, I helped my mentees (ages 8-9 and 13) with all school subjects and ESOL. While I still love to help younger students with English, Reading, and Writing, I’ve started helping future law students with LSAT prep and personal statement writing.
My experience spans a variety of ages and contexts. Some of the students needed long-term support building a foundation of skills. Others simply needed help getting through a rough class or assignment. Whatever it is you need, I’d love to lend a hand. I know how stressful and scary it is to fall behind your classmates. I always remind my students that everyone learns differently– especially if you are dealing with something like ADHD or anxiety. I always like to help my students identify their ideal learning style while working with me. Understanding how to study and learn in a way that works best for your brain is an invaluable skill that will help you in every step of your education.
