"Hello, my name is TyChaunda, but I prefer to be called Ty. I am a recent graduate of the University of South Alabama with my Bachelor's of Art in Psychology. During my study at South Alabama, I held a position of Writing Tutor for 2 and a half years. At this position I tutored all college grade levels including graduate. Briefly I also held a position a teacher's assistant for English Composition 1. I was an in house tutor for the students and held workshops, one-on-one meetings, and office hours for the students. I reinforced the lessons that were taught by the main professor.
Once I graduated from South Alabama, I accepted a teaching position at a private elementary school. At that time I was a kindergarten and first grade level teacher. During this time I taught all subjects but had a special spot for reading and language arts. During the after school hours and weekend I would tutor local kids in the New Orleans area. I tutored 2 first graders, 4th grader, 6th grader, and 2 5th graders. I mainly focused reading foundations and grammar with them. My first graders mainly focused on the aspect of language arts foundations as a whole. Soon after this experience I enrolled and got accepted into a Masters of Teaching graduate program at Tulane University.
My focus with my teaching and tutoring style is interactive, fun, calming, but also exciting. I love the I do, We do, and You do model. I teach you the skill, we practice the skill together, and then you complete it independently. It may not always be that simple but with much practice we can transform into that progress. With all of this being said, I love teaching. I love watching students gain new information and succeed at their goal or assignment." less...
