"Hello, I am Matthew! I am an experienced English teacher, holding a Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate in English Literature. I have over a decade of experience teaching a variety of English classes to college undergraduates, including Introduction to Writing, Introduction to Literature, Intermediate Writing, and specialized literature courses.

During my time as an English Professor, I worked closely with students in order to help them learn the basic writing and critical thinking skills required to succeed at the college level. I held weekly conferences with each student, during which we discussed writing and revision methods as well as the student’s own unique strengths, interests and concerns as a writer.

Since the majority of my students were pursuing professional degrees, we often spent our time together discussing the types of writing skills that they would require to excel in their respective fields. This type of student-centered approach forms the basis of my teaching philosophy.
