"Since I was a child, I've always been captivated by the power of words and the beauty of the English language. Growing up, I spent countless hours lost in books, which ignited my passion for reading and writing. While I pursued an undergraduate degree in Sociology at Westminster University, I discovered a love of nonfiction writing. Now, I am eager to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with others as an English tutor.

For the past four years, I have been working as a High School Slam Poetry Coach through the Utah High School Poetry Slam Initiative. I have coached students across the Salt Lake Valley in collaborative group and one on one hybrid environments, providing personalized coaching for each student. During this time, I have discovered a passion for teaching high school students of all skill levels learn to love reading and writing. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. I believe that every student has the potential to excel in English when given the right tools and encouragement. By using interactive exercises, providing personalized feedback, and focusing on practical applications, I aim to make learning enjoyable and effective. My goal is to help my students gain confidence in their abilities, improve their grades, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the English language.

One of my most rewarding experiences as a tutor was helping a struggling high school student improve his writing skills. Through our sessions, he went from barely passing his English class to earning an A on his final paper. He is currently a sophomore at Utah Valley University, double majoring in English and Music. Seeing his transformation and newfound confidence reinforced my belief in the impact of personalized, dedicated tutoring.
