"I'm Lauren! I've been editing and writing for over a decade, and now I'd love to pass my knowledge and skills along to you.

I always loved the English language and was an avid reader and writer from a young age, but I didn't begin copy editing more seriously until just after my time at Smith College, where I graduated with a BA in Art History (minor, Italian Language & Literature). In 2022, I further enhanced my credentials by earning my MA in English (with certificates in both Composition and Literature) from The University of Akron.

For my UA capstone project, I researched and wrote a book of short stories around the theme of sleep. This collection utilized fiction, nonfiction, and experimental/hybrid forms. Some of my written work has been published in places such as The Rising Phoenix Review, Pendemic, and The Buchtelite; more forthcoming at The Fellowship of the Unmoored.

Over the years, I've worked with writers at all skill levels on everything from emails and school essays to full-length novels and research and evaluation reports. Professionally, I offer editing services that include developmental, copy, and line editing, proofreading, and coaching.

In 2022, I co-founded a writing group where I share my writing with friends, mingle with published authors, and assist beginners who want to improve their work. In the group, I teach workshops that focus on various writerly skills. Some of the topics I've taught are how to edit your work, the elements of rhetoric, the writing process, word economy, how to identify and write for your target audience, and the basics of poetry.

I'm an expert in my field with a deep passion for teaching. Nothing is better than watching a student, once struggling to grasp a concept, suddenly light up with realization and understanding. I'm professional but friendly, and I always maintain a gentle, positive attitude.
