"I am an experienced English Professor and have been teaching English Composition (essay writing) and creative writing at the college level since 2010. I have taught writing at Temple University, Harrisburg Area Community College, and the Milton Hershey School. I have an MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) in writing from Temple University and a BFA in writing from the University of Pittsburgh, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, with honors in English.
My own writing has recently appeared in the anthology Best New Writing 2014, on the Ploughshares blog, in The Fourth River, and in the Encyclopedia Destructica compendium Strange Attractors. While receiving my MFA at Temple University, I was awarded the Francis Israel Prize for best manuscript and served as editor for TINGE Magazine.
I have taught college level coursework in writing argumentative essays, short stories (fiction), creative nonfiction, reading and analyzing literature, and conducting research for papers. I served as the editor of TINGE Magazine for 2 years, where I was responsible for the final proofreading of writing submissions to be published. I have written professionally, and am a published author, as well.
Because I am an English Professor, I am able to help students with their writing and English coursework with other English instructors' desired outcome in mind. I have an insider's perspective on what good, college-level English coursework looks like, and can help students do well in the courses by providing targeted tutoring that focuses on their actual writing, perfecting its strengths and addressing its weaknesses. As an instructor, my top strength is reviewing and marking up essays for revision, and my students always are astounded at how their writing can transform between revisions." less...
