"Hello! My name is Sofia, an educator with a diverse background in tutoring and writing. In high school, I volunteered as a tutor for elementary students across subjects and offered writing support through the English Honors Society, focusing on proofreading, grammar, and literary analysis. I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program with a perfect score in IB English HL and top ACT English and Reading scores.

In 2022, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UC Santa Barbara with a double major in English and Philosophy and a specialization in Creative Writing from the Las Maestras Center. I received distinction in the English Major for my thesis, along with the Academic Excellence Award and a University Award of Distinction. During university, I honed skills in rhetoric, logic, and debate as part of the Ethics Bowl team, qualifying for nationals three times and winning the western regional in 2020.

I also led teams at The Catalyst Magazine, training over 25 individuals in writing, editing, and design, and played a key role in running a campus newspaper, ensuring high-quality articles through careful proofreading and editing.

Most recently, I worked as an Assistant Language Teacher in rural Japan, where I supported English instruction from elementary through junior high school. I collaborated with teachers on lesson plans, graded assignments, and created interactive activities to enhance language acquisition.
