"Hello! I'm Avia, but my students tend to call me Ms. V. As an art teacher, I help students develop their artistic skills and creativity through various projects and activities. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Secondary Education from Pittsburg State University with an emphasis in Art Education and a minor in English, where I learned how to design and implement engaging curricula and assessments. I do have my Texas Teaching Certificate, and it is currently active.
I have been working as an art teacher for over 7 years, and I have experience with different grade levels, media, and techniques. I am passionate about art education and its benefits for children's cognitive, emotional, and social development. I use my skills in creative problem solving, working with children, and art education to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can express themselves and discover their talents. I have extensive knowledge in the art world, both as a teacher and professionally, and have had many of my students place at the state and national level in art competitions. I plan to further my education by obtaining my master's degree. As well as art, I also have a passion for theater and English and have taught and/or tutored students in both subjects, including preparing for state testing and competition.
Furthermore, I work as an artist professionally, by operating my own artistic business where I specialize in photography, visual arts (including painting, drawing, etc), and visual fx and body paint. I have one student, currently, whom I tutor in visual fx, which is very exciting for me. I am also an artist in residence at a local gallery and have been published in a "Best of Photography" book.
I love sharing my knowledge and skills with my students and aim to help them become successful in both their current studies and future career paths. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson." less...
