I am a former teacher of both middle grades and high school English/Language Arts. As a classroom teacher, I found great fulfillment in connecting with my students and watching them grow as people. I found that by getting to know the young people in front of me, I could more easily meet them where they were in their academic journey and I could cater my style, lessons, and approach to maximize their learning.
My approach to teaching is to make topics and concepts as relatable and fun as possible- by starting each lesson with something engaging or thought provoking. I then transition to direct instruction and then guided practice, prior to allowing my students time to work independently.
