"Hi, I'm Jesse! I am a current undergraduate student at Harvard College planning on majoring in mathematics. I have years of experience taking advanced STEM courses and standardized tests. I am a National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, and Presidential Scholar Semifinalist. I have earned a perfect score in the math section of every PSAT, SAT, and ACT test I have taken (6 in total), a 1560 on the SAT, and 36 on the ACT. I have also earned a perfect score on the AP Computer Science A exam and a 5 on the following AP exams: Human Geography, World History, United States History, Chemistry, Statistics, Physics 1, Physics C: Mechanics, English Language and Composition, and Calculus AB.
Outside of the classroom, I have been an active participant in academic competitions. In addition to being the National Student Delegate President of Mu Alpha Theta (the high school math honor society), I have place in the top 5 in countless local, state, and national level competitions. Most notably, I have qualified for the AIME 5 times and earned Distinguished Honor Roll (top 1%) on the AMC12. I also competed in the USA Computing Olympiad, earning a perfect score in the bronze division.
I have four years of experience as a tutor, both running my high schools math tutoring program and working for an outside company. I believe that learning happens when students solve the problems themselves rather than being given the answer. So, when teaching I guide students through the process, focusing on the intuition behind it all, and make them do most of the legwork. I have seen firsthand that this process results in long term learning and understanding.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible and therefore welcome any resources or suggestions. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
