"Hi, I’m Francis and if loving derivatives is wrong then I don’t want to be right. With over a decade of experience, I’m a diligent tutor who’s dedicated to helping students develop greater confidence and skill with trigonometry, algebra and calculus. As a natural math lover, I genuinely enjoy helping others improve and grow to enjoy the challenge of solving equations. My unwavering patience and commitment to tailoring my approach to each individual student's needs set me apart as a tutor. I take pride in explaining complex mathematical concepts in various ways until they resonate with each student.
I hold two engineering degrees from Texas Southern University where I graduated magna cum laude with honors (3.7 GPA). I earned a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston (3.6 GPA). My academic achievements include exemplary performance (A/A+) in critical subjects such as Calculus 1, 2, & 3, Calculus-based Physics 1 & 2, differential equations, and complex analysis. I scored 162 out of 170 in the GRE exam math section. Currently, I work with math everyday as a full time design engineer at a major engineering firm.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 10+ years of tutoring experience. For six years, I assisted fellow college students in mastering Calculus 1, 2 & 3 at our on-campus tutoring center. I honed my teaching skills, employing a Socratic method that encourages students to grasp concepts in their unique way. I was a teaching assistant for the SASS program, helping incoming freshmen meet their academic requirements.
In graduate school, I joined the AVID program. For 2+ years, I tutored high school students (age: 14- 18) in Algebra, Geometry, physics, and chemistry. For the past two years, I've provided one-on-one online tutoring to students ranging from middle school to college. This experience has broadened my ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
