"Hi, I am Akhil and I welcome the opportunity to help you learn algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, or any of my other areas of expertise. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with both a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. While in college, I tutored for four years – mostly teaching algebra, trigonometry, SAT math, and calculus to high school students. In addition, during my summer between freshman year and sophomore year, I taught young kids mathematics at Sylvan Learning Center. My students gave me a star with the title “Most Patient Teacher.”
While I taught in groups before, I generally prefer teaching one-on-one to really help my student understand the material. In college, I found that the best approach to solving math problems is to slow down, break the problem down into small bits, and then solve each bit at a time until the solution is reached. I apply this methodology to teaching my students, and help them bridge any gaps in their learning and problem-solving. My goal is to prepare you to the point where you will be able to solve any questions without my assistance. I will answer any questions you have, work with you through multiple problems, and then ask you to solve a couple problems to solidify your understanding. I have developed a sophisticated toolkit of techniques to help you get past any roadblocks and reach your desired goal.
I am a very reliable, patient, and creative person. With me, my students will receive the appropriate care and attention. I'm able to provide a supervised, safe, and stable environment where there are no "silly" or "stupid" questions. Using all my skills and experience, I love helping students achieve their best.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson." less...
