"I am a graduate of Texas A&M Galveston (Whoooooop!) with a Bachelors in Marine Biology. Along the way I gained some unique experiences working at 2 different vet clinics, the Moody Gardens Aquarium, and the Marine Mammal Stranding Network. After college I gained employment at NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Lab as a SCUBA diver. I started teaching SCUBA diving on my spare time, and loved helping others replace fear and apprehension with confidence and opportunity. I followed my passion for education into full time teaching at Clear View High School for 8 years. I took a year off from teaching to design an educational app for students in grades 8th-12th. I then transitioned back into teaching science at a private hybrid homeschool program, grades 5th-12th. I am now a stay at home mom supporting my daughter through her homeschool journey. I hope that tutoring will still give me the opportunity to continue my passion and mission of helping others overcome fears/obstacles and achieve their dreams.
I have experience teaching Biology (STAAR), Chemistry, Integrated Physics & Chemistry (IPC), and Aquatic Science.
My teaching style incorporates a blend of creativity, fun, and real world application in a relaxed atmosphere where mistakes are an opportunity to learn and grow. Some of the best scientific breakthroughs come from the invention of mistakes. I welcome any resources that a student contributes or prefers to work with. Each student is unique with their own learning style. The goal is to customize the lesson around a student to maximize engagement and confidence. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with you and/or your student." less...
