"I am currently a freshman studying Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University. I graduated high school in May 2023.

Last year, I was a Teacher Assistant for my high school's AP Physics 1 section, with approximately 25 students. During the AP Physics 1 lab, I would talk with each group of students (there are 6 groups in total in this lab section) working on the lab assignment and ask thoughtful questions to guide the students in completing the lab assignment and to reinforce how the lab connected with the course's key concepts. If they were struggling, I would ask how each component of the lab represented concepts from the lecture, in an attempt to reinforce their understanding of the material. When a student/group needs help, I never directly give the answer, but rather provide leading questions on how to complete the lab. This position was year-long.

During my freshman year of college, I tutored high school students from a private boarding school near my university. This was more of a 1-on-1 setting, reinforcing each student's understanding of the material they were struggling with. The main subjects I taught were chemistry, physics, and genetics. One of the methods I employed during my tutoring, was first providing an example of how to solve a question related to the material the students were studying, Then, I would go through each homework question and challenge them to answer the questions, using my example work as reference. In the end, if there were errors with the answer, I point them out and ask them why this approach may be incorrect. Midway through the homework section, I challenged the students further by removing the reference example work to see if they were able to answer the question without any reference. I observed that the students were able to understand the material quickly without issues. Tutoring at this school was year-long." less...
