"Nice to meet you, I'm Paul! I graduated in 2021 from the University of Chicago with a BS in Neuroscience and a BA in psychology. I worked for several years as a lab manager in neuroscience research labs, where as part of my duties I mentored undergraduate research assistants, teaching them valuable statistical and programming skills. I realized that the mentoring aspect was the part of the job I felt most passionate about, and so after a few years switched to teaching in the public school system. I find that it is incredibly rewarding watching my students grow and learn, and I hope to bring that same enthusiasm and passion to tutoring. I've learned that every student learns differently, and that to best teach you have to first understand how a student sees the world.
I taught for the school district for 1 year, and throughout have worked as a private tutor in reading and math on the side. Additionally, I have several years of tutoring experience from my years as an undergraduate. I have tutored mostly with students one on one, but have some experience with larger groups from my time in the school system. Most of my tutoring experience is with highschool students who are falling behind in their classes and need a little extra help. I've taught science, math, and some ELA. I've also helped a small number of students prepare for the SAT/ACT.
I want the students I work with to feel as supported as possible, and this means having an open communicative relationship with their parents. I'm always open to resources or suggestions from parents or students. I'm easy to reach and quick to respond. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
