As a teacher and tutor I really try to break away from the traditional instruction of power points, notes and then a worksheet. I value academic discussion, critical thinking, and creative activities designed to engage and excite learners. Students who receive tutoring from me should expect to be an active learner. Discussions will be held where students will have to speak and engage in academic discussion. Also extensions or activities will be catered to the student’s individual learning style, so they’re more accessible and engaging.
I have several years as the department head at my district. While in such a role I was in charge of designing the tutoring lessons to be delivered for students taking the state exams. I was also in charge of training my team on curriculum materials and teaching strategies. I’ve also had the privilege of working alongside many consulting firms who work with education, and implementing their strategies.
As a professional educator I take my responsibilities of teaching children or learners seriously. My goal is to not only give you the tools to pass a test or a class, but to also give you excitement about learning history! I am open to discourse, and welcome any criticism or feedback as well. I consider myself a life long learner, and if I can learn a new thing or two all the better!" less...
