"My name is Kaitlin and I have just started my eleventh year teaching secondary history. I like to say that I get paid to hang out with high schoolers all day and it is pretty great! I have worked in small and large private schools, which has given me the opportunity to teach almost every area of social studies at one time or another. I have had three College Board approved AP courses that I have taught and have experience preparing students to take and pass the AP exams.
Because of my experience with small class sizes, I have seen the direct impact working closely with students can have on their individual achievement. Working one on one with students allows me to help them process through some of the big ideas from history and also help them connect to other things they have learned to make all of the pieces fit. History usually gets a bad rap because people think it's boring; the thing I love most about my content area is hearing students say how they have decided that history is actually pretty interesting!
I hold a CA Credential in Social Sciences and I am in my 11th year in the classroom. I have taught everything from Middle School World Studies to AP Government and Economics. My US History, European History, World History: Modern, and US Government courses have been approved by the College Board and my students have consistently performed at or above the national average on the exams.
I would love to chat with you to see how I can help you reach your goals in your history classes!" less...
