"My name is Todd and I have served as a high school social studies teacher for 20 years. Interestingly enough, this was not my initial career pathway. After earning my undergraduate degree in history from Indiana University in 1996 I had planned on attending law school. Along the way, however, I took some education classes and became more and more interested in teaching as a profession.

I have a passion for my subject matter, but I love teaching simply because of the joy it brings others. Watching some have an "A ha" moment never gets old! I am a great communicator in that I tailor my lessons / teaching to the students particular strengths. In addition, I am not overly focused on following a template, but instead willing to answer questions and pursue the "teachable moment!"

As mentioned my BA is in US History from Indiana University. During my 20 year teaching career, however, I have taught US Government, AP Government, Sociology, Psychology, World History, Geography, and US History. Each time that I have taught a new course, I feel that I have benefitted in learning new content and connections to outside subjects / disciplines. I am currently licensed to teach all of the aforementioned subjects, and I am also college board certified to teach AP Gov't (Over 10 years experience.) During my time as an AP US Government instructor, I have established a track record of producing students capable of scoring 3+ of the annual AP Government exam. In 2022, nearly 25% of my students scored 5 or better on the AP Gov't exam.
