"I'm Hadley! I am currently a Bioengineering major at George Mason University with a concentration in neurotechnology and computational neuroscience, and a minor in Mathematics. During my senior year of high school, my course load consisted of Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and IB Higher Level Chemistry and Physics. I have found that for many of the STEM classes I took while in high school and college, I never fully grasped concepts until they were explained to me a second or third time. For me, online math and science videos were enough to provide me with those alternate perspectives, but I know that for many having a live tutor that can answer questions and work through specific problems can be even more beneficial.

I try to model my tutoring style based on my students' exact needs. For example, if there is a particular problem a student cannot solve on their homework, I will show them how to solve the problem once, and then have them complete a similar problem while explaining what they are doing and why. This ensures that the student completes their homework and that they understand how the questions they struggle with are being solved.

I have tutored students from 8th to 12th grade in Algebra I, Geometry, and AP Calculus AB, as well as advanced chemistry. Most notably, I ran a private tutoring business in high school where I would have one-on-one tutoring sessions with 8th graders in geometry so that they could start high school in precalculus, and now, in college, I volunteer as a chemistry peer tutor.

I have only recently completed high school, and I am currently studying math and science, which means that a lot of high school problem-solving methods are still fresh in my mind. I understand that high school teachers can be tough, and that sometimes all a student needs is someone to sit with them as they complete their homework. By the end of a tutoring session with me, my students knock out their weekly assignments and have a firm grasp on how to solve similar problems in the future!" less...
