"I have a B.S. and an M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I’ve attended The Pennsylvania State University as well as The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in order to complete my degree. I have experience working with children and adults in many different ways. From articulation to grammar, communication, reading/writing, public speaking skills, math and computation skills, and cognitive skills to name a few. I have educated my own children with homeschooling at the PreK, K, and 1st grade levels. I am kind, caring, engaging, and enjoy watching others learn new skills.
As a young math student I struggled, and I remember the difficulty when I was young. Therefore I know different techniques to assist young kids in understanding the basics of math and to decrease stress and frustration. I am extremely patient. I work with multi sensory modalities- visual/tangible/auditory direction, etc., and decide what modalities work best for the student. I have recent experience in tutoring PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd grade math but am able to tutor higher grades as well.
As a speech teacher in a clinic, I worked with children who needed assistance completing their school assignments, as their difficulties related to their language learning disorders. I’ve helped students learn reading, writing, grammar and proofreading, as well as speaking ~in ways to improve the overall message they want to convey. I have a love for words and semantics/vocabulary and teaching them to others.
I am a great listener and I also like to give good counsel and advice to others. It makes me feel whole to focus on others and I feel great joy knowing that I have improved a person’s knowledge base, therefore empowering them as an individual." less...
