"My name is Peri, and I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I decided to go into teaching because I had an inspiring teacher. They helped me find a love for the content, and ultimately inspired me to help other students find joy in their own learning. I have found that, as a student, you can tell if your teacher does not care about what they are teaching. It makes a difference in students’ lives when teachers care for their job. I believe that is an essential characteristic teachers must have in order to be successful, and one trait I will continue to work to keep.
My student teaching experience was at the top charter school within Utah, with a Niche rating of A+. My mentor teacher was awarded the Science of Reading Teacher award for 2024, which is awarded to teachers who have gone above and beyond to implement the Science of Reading through instruction and interventions and to advance reading outcomes in their classrooms. Needless to say, I was able to study from the best. I learned the best practices of Reading, Science, Math, and Social Studies through evidence backed programs. I had experience with students of various backgrounds, experiences, and disabilities who all were able to grow and succeed.
After student teaching, I was hired on to the same school as a Response to Intervention (RTI) instructor. I had 10 small groups of students in all grades from K-6 for Math and Reading. We placed students in groups based on proficient skills, and skills that needed to be worked on. This information was based on constant progress monitoring and testing. I would pick from various program's for the group based on their needs. I loved to notice and track the growth students were making academically, but also in all other aspects of life.
Every child is different and has their own needs. I encourage parents to reach out with any suggestions or questions they may have in their students success. Please contact me if you have any questions, or would like to schedule a lesson!" less...
