"Hello, I'm Elizabeth! I have my bachelor's degree from UC Davis with a major in history and a minor in English.
I have always enjoyed tutoring, and I work with homeschool, public, and privately schooled students. Personally, I've always found that teachers who are passionate about the subjects they teach make the best teachers. They can make the subjects come alive and spread their enthusiasm to their students. I love history and the social sciences and classic literature and I enjoy encouraging students to see the beauty and wonder of our world through those school subjects.
I use this passion for history and English-related subjects in my tutoring and I try to express to my students the fascinating ideas of the world, the hidden relationships between historical events, and the importance of writing and reading. Even with lower elementary level phonics, I want my students to learn to love reading and then they can see all they can learn on their own with their skills.
I have over 15 years experience tutoring K-12 students in one-on-one and small class environments. I am experienced in all subjects K-8 (math, social studies, English, science) and for high schoolers I like to focus on the social sciences and English. In my one-on-one tutoring I have done both in person and online tutoring. With small class tutoring I recently started holding weekly laboratory classes for students for homeschooled junior high chemistry and physics. I also teach history and related topics weekly in a small class environment for K-8 students.
I want to help students succeed and pull from a variety of resources and teaching styles to try and find what fits best for each student.
Please contact me with any questions you may have and to schedule a session! I am quick to respond and happy to correspond with you. Thank you!" less...
