"I am a certified science educator with more than 25 years’ experience teaching indoors and outdoors for a variety of schools, programs, and different states. I have degrees in Forest Management Technology, Natural Science (Geology), and Secondary Science Education. I am a currently certified/licensed professional educator in Vermont for 7-12 Science and Florida for 5-9 General Science & 6-12 Earth-Space Science. I have also been certified in South Carolina, Maine, and Minnesota Additionally, I have earned certifications and licenses as I have grown professionally and personally. Florida Master Naturalist, Wilderness First Responder, and Registered Maine Guide to name a few. I am honored to be a Fund for Teachers Fellow for my travels to research bees, lizards, and forest succession in the Amazon rainforest of Peru. I travel a lot to learn. I am always working towards the next adventure!
I have been an online educator for three years, in addition to classroom and field teaching working through live lessons, one on one support, sharing expertise through text and email messaging, or phone calls. Your needs drive my supportive strategies. I have diverse strategies for how to approach a problem to find a solution. I am an advocate of learning the steps to finding solutions over memorizing facts. I believe that knowing how to solve a problem will stick with you longer than an answer that may be outdated or incorrect.
I look forward to helping you or your student to better understand the content being studied and to show the relevance of the learning to one's living as an engaged scientifically literate citizen." less...
