"5+ years experience tutoring/teaching high school/college level Micro/Macroeconomics, econometrics, calculus/precalculus, probability and statistics, data analysis, STATA and R programming. 5+ years PhD-level research experience with extensive background in mathematics, economics (micro/macro), political science, international political economy, social science, econometrics, statistics, data analysis, STATA and R programming. I enjoy the process of helping students achieve a better understanding. I have been teaching college students both as a teaching assistant in university classroom and as an online tutor.
My tutoring approach is to guide students through the thinking process and assist them to come to the answer or achieve the understanding on their own. My tutoring usually starts from covering the key concepts that the student needs to know to answer his/her questions. I put great emphasis on helping the student achieve real understanding of the key concepts. Once the student fully grasps the key concepts, I can easily guide the student through the process of finding the answer on his/her own.
I also often complement the students' course material with vivid examples and graphs that are easy for them to relate to and understand. I often use live whiteboard to make step-by-step drawings that break down the concepts that students find complex into simple pieces that are easy for students to follow. When the students are ready, I also encourage them to draw/write answers on the whiteboard on their own. This kind of process usually can help the students achieve the real understanding they need on their own and really make the important concepts stick in their mind. My tutoring methods apply across many disciplines including economics, mathematics and statistics." less...
